In the world of Reiki, the concept of chakras holds profound significance. These energy centers, aligned along the spine, play a crucial role in the flow of universal life energy.

In this blog post, we’ll delve into the intricacies of chakras, their connection to Reiki, and explore effective techniques for achieving balance within these vital energy points.

What Is A Chakra?

A chakra is a fundamental concept in various spiritual and energy-based practices, including Reiki. Originating from ancient Indian traditions, the term “chakra” translates to “wheel” or “disk” in Sanskrit, symbolizing the dynamic, circular energy centers that are believed to exist along the spine.

These energy wheels are interconnected and serve as gateways for the flow of life force energy, also known as prana or chi. Each chakra is associated with specific qualities, functions, and colors, reflecting its unique role in maintaining balance within the body, mind, and spirit.

Understanding and balancing these chakras is a central aspect of practices like Reiki, where the harmonious flow of energy through these centers is considered essential for overall well-being and spiritual growth.

ROOT CHAKRA (Muladhara)

Grounding energy, stability, and a sense of security.

The first chakra is going to be the root chakra, and it’s at the base of the spine, the color that you’re going to see with it is red, and often there are physical issues associated here which tend to be in the hips, legs and rectum. And mentally, the root chakra is the source of emotional well being and related to safety, security, loyalty, trust and the connection to the physical world, and also grounding.

SACRAL CHAKRA (Svadhishthana)

Creativity, passion, and emotional balance.

And next we have the second chakra which is for Sacral Chakra, so this is going to be located slightly below the naval region, and associated with the color orange. And sometimes the physical problems here could be in the intestines or the lower back might be related to imbalances.

It is also where we hold a lot of that personal power. And so when we’re really stepping into our power we’re working with creativity. If people have an imbalance going on in this area, they might be experiencing issues related to sexuality or pleasure, or prosperity, control or addiction.  So whether you are feeling into it intuitively or using a pendulum, which we will talk about in an upcoming lesson, or whatever it is – these are things that we might be able to tap into with our clients.

SOLAR PLEXUS CHAKRA (Manipura)

Personal power, confidence, and self-esteem.

The next one is going to be the third chakra which is going to be the solar plexus chakra. And the solar plexus chakra is located at the base of the sternum, and it’s kinda a like gold or yellowish color. And this is where we form our personality and sense of self as separate from others.

So, for example, you know, back in the day tribe – now, more commonly used as a family, so there might be imbalances here, for example with poor self esteem or worthiness or maybe feeling like an outsider, willing to work within the rules or personal honor and integrity.

And the solar plexus chakra is associated with the abdominal organs, the diaphragm, and the middle back so if there’s any physical issues going on in there for a client, you might be able to tap into this solar plexus chakra, the third chakra.

HEART CHAKRA (Anahata)

Love, compassion, and harmonious relationships.

The next is going to be the heart chakra, and it is green and located in the center of the chest. It is really serves as the energetic grid between body and spirit, and is a place of love, of kindness, of compassion.

And if there’s any imbalances or anything going on within the heart chakra, you might find a client you maybe struggling with being able to forgive, or holding on to anger or grief, bitterness, maybe some self centeredness and the heart chakra itself is associated physically with the heart, lungs, circulatory system, respiratory system, shoulders, arms, hands, and upper to middle back.

THROAT CHAKRA (Vishuddha)

Communication, self-expression, and truth.

And the fifth chakra is going to be the throat chakra which is blue and is located just above the Adam’s apple. And it’s often associated with the throat, thyroid, parathyroid, teeth, jaw, gums, neck as well as in the lower portion of the face.

So, sometimes problems that are associated with this, more internally is maybe lack of integrity or truthfulness, the ability to speak out or maybe speak your truth, and sometimes with creative expression and self expression.

THIRD EYE CHAKRA (Ajna)

Intuition, insight, and spiritual awareness.

The sixth chakra is going to be the third eye chakra which is a an indigo kind of like a violet color, and this is actually located in the center of the forehead, which is tapped into our intuition or intellect and spirituality open mindedness and reasoning. So sometimes if there’s physical issues associated, there might be imbalances within the ears, eyes head or brain, and it also may include some mental health problems.

CROWN CHAKRA (Sahasrara)

Connection to higher consciousness, wisdom, and enlightenment.

Lastly we have the crown chakra which is the seventh chakra, and it’s located just above the crown of the skull, and the color of it is white or clear – sometimes you may see it in this purple-is color in books or printed. So sometimes physical and mental issues are related to the bidi’s entire system and mental illnesses are associated with the Crown Chakra.

It’s also our connection to the divine, ethics and values and understanding of the greater self as one of the universe.
