We all know the signs – Aries, Taurus, Gemini, Cancer, Leo, Virgo, Libra, Scorpio, Sagittarius, Capricorn, Aquarius, Pisces…

it can be super entertaining to read your daily/weekly/monthly horoscope and see how accurate it is, amiright?

And who doesn’t love reading about their sign and which personality traits they fully relate to?

But beyond all that, we don’t tend to dive deeper in astrology because, well, it all kinda gets super confusing. Mercury in retrograde means something bad, you think, but you might not really be sure what that means.

So what is astrology exactly?

To put it simply, astrology is using the movements of celestial bodies (IE planets and constellations) to determine what is happening here on earth. And your astrological horoscope can be an AMAZING window in to self discovery, a lil’ blue print of who you are and how you tick!

Astrology practices have been around for ages and can vary from each culture, but ultimately how I see it is (and please keep in mind I am kinda a science geek LOL) – if the moon can have enough gravitational pull to determine our ocean’s tides that make up 70%+ of our earth, I’d say the other celestial bodies can greatly impact us too!

In relation to your astrological horoscope, the sign that you most likely have been referring to your whole life is your sun sign. It notes the location of the sun at the time of your birth. AKA your zodiac. (Mine, for example, is virgo…where my virgo sisters at?? 😉 )

The zodiac refers to 12 constellations that the sun and the planets move through over the course of a year. This belt of 12 constellations each have their own unique personality based on the location of the moon + planets and they fall into categories based on elements – either fire, water, earth or air.

Each sign shares some similar personality traits (and is very compatible) with its fellow element signs. (Example=Virgo’s element is earth, therefore I am similar to Taurus + Capricorn).

Now obviously, there was a lot more going on in the sky, when you were born, other than just the location of the sun. To dive a lot deeper in to your horoscope and self discovery you can determine the location of all the planets at the time of your birth with a birth chart.

THE FIRE SIGNS: Aries, Leo + Sagittarius

Like fire itself, fire signs are usually powerful, full of life, passionate, and sometimes temperamental. They feel things deeply and are an inspiration. With all their charisma, they easily draw others to them.

These super intelligent air signs are always on the move. They are hungry for more information, more learning and more ideas. These individual air signs can vary with some as strong as a gust of wind and others a bit more ‘light + airy.’

These sensitive, empathetic and imaginative water signs can be a bit unpredictable just like the ocean itself. They also feel things very deeply and crave a sense of security and stability. Although very independent, their intuition and insight can be very helpful to others.
